Counterfeit by Leslie Peppers is an 18 x 24 x 1 inch black and white Fine Art Giclée print on a gallery wrapped canvas. The artist was sketching the unfinished pyramid topped by the Eye of Providence within a triangle located on the back of a United States one dollar bill from memory. After looking at an actual one dollar bill she realized it was a bit different from what she had recalled and thought the rendition could be found on a counterfeit one and decided to paint her sketch instead and name it thus.
It is an exact reproduction of the original painting because the artist took time and patience to paint the canvas without the appearance of brush strokes. The surface is smooth to the touch as if the canvas were blank. This labor intensive process is the signature that sets this artist apart from others.
